Generally when someone is affected with male pattern baldness it is progressive and causes gradual hair loss over the top and front of the head. Due to heredity, the hair on the sides and back of the head (the donor area) are not affected. This is what makes hair transplantation possible.

Arizona Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery Centers are Sometimes called "Medical Hair Loss Clinics" use the most revolutionary type of hair transplantation called mini and micro-grafting. With this very precise technique, Medical Hair Loss & Cosmetic Surgery Centers uses the follicular units for transplanting from the permanent zone in the back of the scalp into areas of balding.

Dr. Neil P. Superfon, D.O., Dr. William Ko, M.D. and Dr. John Ebner are successful surgeons with experience and aesthetic sense to know where to place each transplanted hair, and at which angle and direction to place them to ensure they grow naturally. This will guarantee a natural undetectable hairline.

The Follicular unit is the most revolutionary aspect of hair transplantation.

The follicular unit of the adult human scalp consists of 1-4 terminal (full thickness) hair follicles along with 1-2 fine vellus hairs, sebaceous (oil) glands, a small muscle, tiny nerves and blood vessels, and a fine band of collagen that surrounds the unit. These follicular units insure maximum growth. In order to remove follicular units for transplanting to the front and top of the head, a technique called “single strip harvesting” is used. The donor tissue is removed in one piece so as to not disturb the follicular units. Another essential component of follicular unit transplantation is the use of a “stereomicroscopic dissection” process to avoid damage to the units.

Some of the treatments that we offer include:

Topical treatments involve using pharmaceuticals that have been proven to minimize hair loss or stimulate new growth. Hair transplants are designed to graft healthy hair into thin and balding spots of the scalp. Scalp reduction involves the surgical removal of bald scalp, followed by the lifting and fusing together of hair-producing skin. A skin lift/ graft involves placing a flap of hair-producing skin onto the bald area of the scalp. A multi-phased approach includes using more than one of the outlined remedies. Our custom treatment plans will be designed for your specific situation.
